A custom WordPress marketplace and directory platform connecting independent producers, local markets, food hubs, retailers, and buyers through vendor onboarding, business listings, product discovery, supply requests, and custom registration workflows.
OVERVIEW
Local Green Stuff is a WordPress-based marketplace and local business directory designed to help independent producers, markets, food hubs, retailers, and buyers connect in one platform. The website allows visitors to discover local producers, browse businesses by category and location, explore featured businesses, submit supply requests, access useful business resources, and interact with vendors through marketplace functionality. I worked on the complete website development, marketplace configuration, responsive implementation, custom workflows, forms, listings, vendor onboarding, WooCommerce and Dokan functionality, and custom WordPress plugin development. A major part of the project was building the custom “Local Green Stuff Registration Toolkit” plugin to centralize and manage complex registration and onboarding processes.
Making the complex immediately understandable.
The project required much more than a standard business website. Local Green Stuff needed a platform capable of supporting several different user types and workflows, including independent producers, vendors, markets, food hubs, retailers, trade buyers, and general visitors. The website needed to combine business discovery, marketplace functionality, vendor registration, product listings, local search, supply requests, account management, applications, referrals, emails, and administrative controls without making the experience difficult for users or site administrators. Another major challenge was managing different onboarding processes for vendors, markets, and food hubs while keeping submissions and communication organized inside WordPress.
A clear system with room to grow.
I developed the platform around WordPress, WooCommerce, Dokan, Elementor Pro, Advanced Custom Fields Pro, Gravity Forms, and custom functionality. The website was structured around clear user journeys for discovering producers, joining the platform, creating listings, browsing locations and categories, managing vendor accounts, submitting supply requests, and purchasing through the marketplace. To handle the more complex onboarding requirements, I developed a dedicated custom WordPress plugin called “Local Green Stuff Registration Toolkit.” The plugin provides one central workspace for configuring vendor onboarding, market and food hub applications, referral tracking, emails, submissions, and presentation controls. This reduced the need to manage these workflows through disconnected tools and made the platform easier to maintain and extend.
Built for reliability and daily use.
The website was developed using WordPress with the Hello Elementor theme and Elementor Pro for the frontend experience. WooCommerce and Dokan Pro power the commerce and multi-vendor marketplace functionality, while Advanced Custom Fields Pro and Custom Post Type UI support structured content and custom data. Gravity Forms and Gravity Forms Styles Pro were used for form-based workflows, while FunnelKit tools support WooCommerce cart and automation functionality. I created and configured 37 pages and platform workflows, including vendor onboarding, vendor registration, market signup, food hub signup, listings, directories, location pages, seller dashboards, account areas, supply requests, quotation requests, search, store listings, checkout, resources, and supporting legal pages. I also completely developed the custom “Local Green Stuff Registration Toolkit” WordPress plugin for the project. The plugin handles configurable vendor onboarding, market and food hub applications, referral tracking, email workflows, submission management, and frontend presentation controls from a dedicated administration workspace. Additional development included marketplace configuration, responsive implementation, form integration, customizations, performance optimization, SEO configuration, and supporting WordPress administration functionality.
